JON GAILMOR
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5
From Dan Woog’s June 22, 2018 ‘06880’ blog:
“For anyone living in Westport in the early 1970s — or a music coffeehouse fan in New England and nearby — Rob Carlson and Jon Gailmor were close to gods. Rob Carlson and Jon Gailmor were classmates (and fellow Orphenians) in Staples High School’s Class of 1966. After college (Brown and Penn, respectively), they formed a folk duo. Their Polydor debut album “Peaceable Kingdom” remains a classic for those who have heard it. Seven years ago — at their Staples 45th reunion — they sang together for the first time in decades.”
Jon’s “Long Ago Lady” is a love song to his adopted state. It’s a beautiful tribute, to a wonderful place.
First Folk Sunday is lucky and happy to be able to share him with Westporters once again.
Gailmor ultimately moved to Vermont and has been moving audiences there for 40 years. He’s been a high-profile concert performer, singer-songwriter, musical album creator, kids’ radio show host, and songwriting workshop leader for children and adults. He has recorded six albums, won numerous awards and was selected as Vermont’s representative to perform during the 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
