Suzanne Sheridan
Suzanne Sheridan, a resident of Westport for 27 years, is a professional portrait photographer, musician, and singer-songwriter. She has excelled at these and has won many fans along the way. She is thrilled to be creating a community of folk music lovers at The Post at the VFW in Westport under FirstFolkSunday.com. Her very popular tribute concert “Suzanne Sheridan Sings Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen” was recorded “live” at Voices Café and is on Spotify, Pandora, and at suzannesheridanmusic.com.
She has performed with Jose Feliciano at many Senior Living Facilities in Fairfield County and was also an original member of the musical group “Exit 43” with Andy Gundell, Scarlett Lee Moore, and Ed Thompson, that began at the Unitarian Church in Westport. Her musical career began with performing folk music in her church, Our Lady of Mercy, in Plainview, Long Island. She went on to singing in Paris, France during her junior year at SUNY New Paltz, and in New York City singing jingles for companies such as Pepsi, Hasbro Toys, Texaco Gas, and Hardees Hamburgers, as well as writing and performing her own original songs in many venues including The Bitter End and Gerties Folk City.
She has won awards and recognition for her music including the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and has performed in Canada and on tour in Australia. Many will recognize a song she co-wrote with her life partner Rozanne Gates, “90 Pound Suburban Housewife Driving in Her SUV.” Ms. Sheridan and her band, (Bob Cooper, Joe Meo and Jake Habegger) performed their musical tribute to Joni Mitchell at the Levitt Pavilion in June 2021 to a sold-out crowd.
